Eugenie
My name is Eugenie and I was born in Rwanda-Kigali but today am living in the DRC. I have two children. When the 1994 genocide war broke out in Rwanda, I was living at my brother's home in Kigali when the Interahamwe (Hutu militia) came to kill our family because we are Tutsi. They killed everybody, but it is by the grace of God that I escaped. My husband is Congolese and convinced me to come to the DRC. But my father and mother in-law don't accept me nor do some Bukavu community members. One day I went to Amani's workshop to have some clothes made and I had the opportunity to share with Amani and Amini all the things I had been through since they speak my language (Kinyarwanda) and do not discriminate. They allowed me to register as a student in the workshop where I feel very much at home and where my children also come to play with their children.

Eugenie, you have been through so much in life. I could never imagine going through anything that hard.I have a bad day, when my hair looks horrible. You must be so strong, and make most of us women look weak. We are all so proud of you. I'm glad you have the opportunity now to register as a student at the workshop.
