Mugisa

Kivu student - Mugisa

While looking after her mother at the Mumosho Health Center, Mugisa was attacked by three armed men on March 26, 2006. She was raped repeatedly and today still suffers from the memory. At one time she felt like she had lost control of her life to depression, but now, through the workshop, has some hope for the future. She is learning to sew and now can walk along the streets, sit and speak with others-- though she still confesses she’s inwardly wounded.

Mugisa, May your days be brightened by your own smile and this message. You are a very strong woman that has the ability to conquer anything you set your mind to. I pray for people like you and girls that seem to end up in this situation. Your future is bright, just like your smile.
